1:Whao was John Garang De Mabior?

John Garang De Mabior wa a dinka man. He also is the founder of the SPLM/A. (Sudanese People Liberation Movement, and Sudanese People Liberation Army).By 1989 the SPLA's strength has increased to 20,000 to 30,000 and also increased from 50,000 to 60,000 in the year of 1991.


2: Who are the Dinka people of Sudan?

The Dinka people of Sudan are an ethnic group in Sudan.Garang was born into the Dinka and they were known for there worshiping of the sky.They would roast meat and play music with ram horns.

3: What is the SPLM/A?

The SPLM/A are two groups that John Grang had founded.The SPLA were fighting for independence,for south Sudan or merely more autonomy.The SPLA fought one Africa's most Longest-running wars.The friends and enemies found the SPLA's human rights record in southern Sudan disturbing.


4: Describe the incidents, events, and developments of the genocide in Sudan?

 Some of the incidents of the genocide were that in Sudan in 1978, the civil war had started and this time the government got involved.Another is that the guerrilla warfare was the beginnig of the civil war and the Anya Anya movement in 1962. An event that happend was that the SPLA strentgh had reached 20,000 to 30,000 and arose 50,000 to 60,000 in 1991. A development was by 1986 the SPLA was estimated to have 12,500 armed men.


5: Pan-Afrikanism is the unity of different Afrikan people and different Afrikan nations.How would this type of unity benifit Sudan?

 I beleive that this type of unity will benifit Sudan because the number of deaths that happend would be prevented. Foreign manipulation has been a very big tragedy. The only factor missing is Afrikan unification. Once Pan-Afrikan agenda is institutionalized throughout Afrika millions of deaths wiil stop.

Homework: DR Congo


1) What events led to the outbreak of war in the DR Congo?

The events that led to the war was that in 1994 after the genocide in Rwanda the Hutus were responsible for perpetrating the deaths of hundreds and thousands moved over the border of Congo. Along with more than a million Rwandans fear for there lives. In 1996 and 1998 the Tutsi-led Rwandan Patriotic Army invaded the Kivus.They have executed hundreds of thousands of others, and at least eight other countries became involved in the fighting. After that the war in Congo.

2) How many have died in this war?Over what time frame has the deaths taken place?What countries and ethnic groups were involved?

Over six million have died in this war.The war started from 1996 to 1998. The number of deaths are not accurate and some of the soldiers were killed to. The war led to children and along with mothers being dead. The people of Congo do not know that it is a weak country.

3)What do u think can happen to stop the war/genocige in Congo?

What i think they can do to stop the war/genocide is to fight for their life. Also i think that they need to get a bigger army so that they can succeed into ending the war/genocide. If they fight as a community they would have a better chance to win.

Rwanda Genocide:Homework Assignment



1) What factor led to the genocide in Rwanda in 1994?

The genocide started from the killing of the Rwanda President Juvenal Hybyarimana. His plane was shot down over the Kigali airport. Even for a country with much turbulent history as Rwanda the slaughter at such a high scale and speed left it's people reeling.

2) What is the time frame of the 1994 genocide and how many people died?

The time frame for the genocide was April 6,1994. There were at least 800,000 deaths in only 100 days. The Tutsis and the Hutus were killed.

3) What were some the after effects of the genocide?

"In july the RPF captured kigali." Even though the genocide in Rwanda was over the Hutu militias in DR congo has resulted to many years of conflict there. Causing up to five million deaths.
